We recently had the privilege of filming at Beacon Hill Academy to capture their journey in becoming an attachment and trauma-informed school – and it was one of those experiences that reminds us why what we do is so important.
From the moment we arrived, it was clear how deeply the school’s leadership, staff, families, and young people had embraced the Flourish approach.
From Behaviour Management to Belonging
Beacon Hill introduced our Attachment & Trauma Training as part of a trust-wide training strategy to equip staff with the skills and tools to support vulnerable young people. The training has enabled school staff to move beyond traditional “behaviour management” and towards something much richer.
Staff have explored the neuroscience of trauma, the challenges children can bring to school with them, and the role of healthy relationships in shaping outcomes. Many described real “aha moments,” gaining both the theory and practical tools to support students living with difficult experiences.
Consistency That Changes Lives
What struck us most was how consistently trauma-informed principles are now lived out at Beacon Hill Academy. Every adult applies the same approach, creating a consistent environment where students know they’ll be understood and supported. One learner, too, spoke of feeling listened to and reassured, while his parent outlined how she values the open communication and compassion shown by staff.
Filming this case study made the impact of trauma-informed training clear: it changes the culture of a school, and it changes lives.

Our Attachment and Trauma Training Programme provides schools with the tools they need to be attachment and trauma aware.
