Children’s rights are central to the values that underpin work with children and young people and their families.

This course will enable learners to understand key facts about children’s rights, to relate these to the principles and values underpinning their own work with children and young people and to understand how children’s rights are protected in practice.

This course will cover:

• The laws and conventions protecting the rights of children
• Children's rights from the perspective of children in care
• Current legislation in place to protect the rights of children
• How the rights of children are protected in practice
• How you can support a child in care to have their rights upheld

By the end of the training, you will:

• Know about the laws and conventions protecting human rights and the rights of children
• Show awareness of the principles and values essential for working with children, young people and their families
• Know how the rights of children are protected in practice

This Children's Rights course is for people who want to know more about the laws and conventions that protect children's rights.

Whilst it provides focus for people working in Children's Services, it will also be useful to a wider audience of people who would like to know more about how the rights of children are protected in practice.
