Course overview of County Lines
County Lines is a drug dealing operation impacting hundreds of children. Gangs are also targeting vulnerable children and young people. Such as looked after children or those trapped in poverty.
Furthermore, the gangs exploit these young people, grooming them to traffic drugs for them. There is also evidence of County Lines in 88% of police forces in the UK. Moreover, the Children’s Commissioner estimates that there are as many as 46,000 children involved in gangs.
Moreover, children as young as 12 have been found as part of these operations and children often travel away from where they live to traffic drugs on behalf of the gangs, resulting in children often absent from schools for short periods.
In addition, this course was developed in conjunction with Lewisham Virtual School. This London authority have a dis-proportionally high number of young people who have been victims or are suspected of being exploited for the purpose of county lines.
