Course content
- Describe the chain of infection and the main ways an infection can get into the body
- Demonstrate effective hand hygiene, including the NHS-recommended 11-step technique
- Identify how a worker's own health or hygiene could pose risks to those they support
- Describe the correct use and disposal of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including gloves and aprons
- Explain the principles of safe handling of soiled linen and clinical waste, including segregation by colour coding and managing blood and body fluid exposure
