Paediatric First Aid Refresher Course

This Paediatric First Aid Refresher course is a follow-on module for those who want to update their knowledge around Paediatric First Aid. Furthermore, to get the most out of this course you first need to do the AC Education First Aid refresher course.

You also need to have completed a full practical Paediatric First Aid course before. This course is a refresher and does not replace a practical course. It is really good practice to refresh your learning every year this course is ideal for this purpose.

This course will cover:

• The procedure for managing an unconscious child or baby who is breathing
• The procedure to use when needing to perform CPR on a child or baby
• The protocol for dealing with a child or baby who is choking
• Identify the action to take in the case of bleeding and shock
• Awareness of common childhood minor injuries
• Identifying any adaptations to a first aid kit and accident report for paediatric first aid

By the end of this course, you will:

• Have revised the procedure for managing an unconscious child or baby who is breathing
• Have revised the procedure to use when needing to perform CPR on a child or baby
• Have revised the protocol for dealing with a child or baby who is choking
• Be able to identify the action to take in the case of bleeding and shock
• Understand how to deal with many common childhood minor injuries
• Be able to identify any adaptations to a first aid kit and accident report for paediatric first aid

This Paediatric First Aid Refresher course has been designed specifically for people who want to update their knowledge around paediatric first aid.

Whilst it provides focus for people working in Children's Services, it will also be useful to a wider audience of people who would like to refresh their knowledge.
