Course overview of Substance Misuse – Drugs and Alcohol
This course is ideal for anyone who wishes to gain knowledge of the causes and issues surrounding substance misuse. We aim to introduce you to the dangers and risks surrounding substance misuse. The focus is on care workers who are supporting people who are at risk of, or who have engaged in, substance misuse.
We will explain the different types of substances, what they are called, why people take drugs, the laws surrounding drugs, the effects of drug use and perceptions of substance misuse. We will look at the harmful effects of substance misuse as well as where to get support and advice. We will look at the risks and ways to protect individuals as well as the barriers to making healthy choices.
