Overview of Mindfulness Based Holding Space
This Mindfulness training programme provides a psychologically safe ‘holding space’ in which participants can learn new skills of resilience through mindfulness. It is written by Elspeth Soutar and Sue Wright. The course is also developed in response to the increasing stress levels that many foster carers and children’s services teams are experiencing and the recognition that Mindfulness is the scaffolding with which we support the learning of reflective and resilience skills.
During the Mindfulness training course, participants will acquire practical strategies to enhance their mental and physical well-being. This will help them better support the children and young people in their care. The programme consists of an introduction webinar and 4 live webinars co hosted by Elspeth and Sue. They focus on key areas including meditation techniques, breathwork, mindful movement, compassion training and emotional understanding. The skills learned are further embedded over a 6 month period of live Mindful Mentoring Drop In Sessions which are offered twice a month during the daytime and evening.
Led by two qualified facilitators, the Mindful programme is shaped around the need to be trauma-sensitive and recognises that no two participants’ journeys are the same.
